Calea Ferată din Moldova

Calea ferata din Moldova (short CFM; Russian Железная дорога Молдовы - Schelesnaja doroga Moldowy; abbreviation SDM or ЖдМ ) is the Moldovan Railways. It was formed after the collapse of the Soviet Union as a successor to the Soviet railways and their subdivision Молдовская железная дорога / Moldowskaja Schelesnaja Doroga on the Moldovan territory. The Company has been allocated by the UIC country code 23. Director General of the Moldovan railway is Ilie Ţurcan.

History

The railway company was founded in 1991 as the successor of the Soviet railways and their already established on July 15, 1979 subdivision Moldowskaja Schelesnaja Doroga. On 30 March 1992, the agendas for the operation of the railway were handed over to the Ministry of Transport, this is subject to the company until today. In addition to the adopted by the SZD routes also some new lines were built. Due to the secession of Transnistria and the problem of the use of railways in this area by the Moldovan Railways was able to run into the southern parts of the country of Moldova in the fall of 2005, the 1944 set and destroyed route from Chisinau to Cainari reactivated so that trains again. 2008, the new line of Giurgiuleşti came on board after Cahul. 2005, there were lying in the claimed territory of Transnistria, since they are managed by the Pridnestrovskaia schelesnaja doroga ( " Transnistrian railways " ) for final separation of the line parts. Operation

The railway network comprised of Moldova 2010, a route distance of 1239.3 kilometers, of which 1225.4 km in Russian broad gauge (1520 mm) and 13.9 km standard gauge ( 1435 mm) are executed. The routes of the Moldovan railways are continuous single track and not electrified until the distance between Rosdilna and Bender, the traffic is thus effected by diesel-powered vehicles. In the West, the network adjacent to the Romanian Railways ( with lane change from 1520 to 1435 millimeters), to the east by the power of the Ukrainian railways. The following routes are currently in operation:

  • Railway Abaclia - Cantemir
  • Railway Bender Galaţi (up to the border station Giurgiuleşti and further to Romania more times over Ukrainian territory with management by the CFM)
  • Railway Cantemir - Giurgiuleşti
  • Railway Chişinău - Cainari
  • Railway Rosdilna - Iaşi (from Ukrainian border station Kutschurhan / Novosaviţcaia on Moldovan territory, between Novosaviţcaia and Bender -2 under control of the Transnistrian railways; border station from Ungheni to Romania )
  • Railway Schmerynka - Balti (from Ukrainian border station Mohyliw-Podilskyj/Vălcineţ on Moldovan territory )
  • Railway Slobidka - Balti (from Ukrainian border station Timkowe / Cobasna on Moldovan territory, between Cobasna and Rîbniţa under control of the Transnistrian railways)
  • Railway Chernivtsi - Ocniţa (from Ukrainian border station Mamalyha on Moldovan territory, then again several times through Ukrainian territory with management by the CFM)
