Caleta de Sebo

Caleta del Sebo is, next to the small settlement of Pedro Barba, with its 653 inhabitants (as of January 2011) located the larger of the two places on small, politically Spanish owned Canary Island of La Graciosa, about one kilometer north off Lanzarote in the Atlantic.

Character

Settled here in 1876 the first man to build a fish factory, was preserved in the fresh fish. Caleta del Sebo, and the entire Chinijo archipelago with four other small islands is administered by the municipality of Teguise on Lanzarote.

There is a small fishing port where the ferry from Órzola invests in Lanzarote. Throughout the town there are, among others, restaurants, supermarkets, a post office, an ATM, a doctor and a pharmacy as well as bike rentals for the tourists who can reach the island of Lanzarote. In a kind of comprehensive school about 60 children are taught. At the beginning of the school year in the summer of 2008 has been upgraded, the former primary school (Centro Escolar Infantil y Primaria ) to the total school (Centro de Educacion Obligatoria ). Paved paths and roads do not exist, but only individual ATVs. They live mainly from fishing and the day-trippers. Some apartments allow for a longer stay. At the western edge, at Playa del Salado, is a campsite.
