Hardwood Hörnling ( Calocera cornea )

The Hardwood or Pfriemförmige Hörnling ( Calocera cornea ) is a mushroom of the family of gelatinous tears relatives ( Dacrymycetaceae ). He is known among other similarly shaped mushrooms under the ambiguous name " goatee ". He is a close relative of the Sticky Hörnlings widespread and growing on dead hardwood. He is much smaller than its more common on coniferous relative. Both species feed saprobiontisch of dead wood.

The coral -like fruiting bodies is in contrast to the coral from tough, gelatinous meat.

The only zweisporigen basidia are elongated and forked.

The Laubholzhörnling fruktifiziert from June / July to the onset of winter in November on damp dead hardwood.

Feed value

The Laubholzhörnling is not toxic. Because of its small size and its strength but it is not suitable as an edible mushroom.
