The Floating Marsh Marigold ( Caltha natans ) is a perennial plant of the family Ranunculaceae ( Ranunculaceae ).
Features
The Floating Marsh Marigold is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 15 to 50 centimeters. The stalk has elongated stems limbs on is crawling or flutend and rooted at the node. The leaf blade is wide up to 2.5 centimeters. The flowers have a diameter of 8 to 13 mm. The bloom are 4-7 mm long and white or colored pink. The 20 to 55 carpels are approximately 3.2 to 6.5 millimeters long.
The flowering period extends from July to August.
Occurrence
The Floating marigold occurs in the cool middle and northwestern North America, Eastern Siberia, the Far East and Mongolia on wet meadows, marshes and shallow water.
Use
The Floating marigold is rarely used as an ornamental plant for pond edges.
