Calverton National Cemetery

The Calverton National Cemetery ( Calverton National Cemetery ) on Long Iceland is the area after the largest public cemetery in the United States. It measures 1,045 acres, equivalent to 4.23 km ². The cemetery is owned by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

The cemetery lies to the east of Long Island, between the towns of Manorville and Riverhead in Suffolk County. It was opened in 1978. After the Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, N. Y., which was built in 1862, and the Long Iceland National Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY, which was opened in 1936, the cemetery in Calverton National Cemetery is the third on Long Iceland.
