Cam Barker

Cameron Barker ( born April 4, 1986 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since January 2013 with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Barker began his career in 2001 in the Canadian junior Western Hockey League with the Medicine Hat Tigers. Three years later he was selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the third overall position. The shooter was then left with the Tigers before joining the end of the 2005/06 season in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks. There he completed a season game in the same game year. In the aftermath Barker was predominantly in the squad of the Norfolk Admirals, the former farm team the Blackhawks, in the American Hockey League. As the then 20- year-old was able to convince at the Admirals, he got during the season 2006 /07 the chance to prove himself in the NHL. Overall, he came in 35 games available for use, in which the defender was able to achieve a trained eight points scorer.

In 2007 the management of the Blackhawks concluded a cooperation agreement with the playing in the AHL Rockford IceHogs. Then Barker also went for the IceHogs on the ice. In his third season in Chicago, he was able to convince again in the AHL and thus recommended himself for re- nomination for the NHL squad the Blackhawks. In the end, it was enough for 45 NHL games in which scoring the first-round draft pick of 2004 18 points.

July 1, 2011 Barker signed a contract for one year with the Edmonton Oilers.

Internationally

In the years 2005 and 2006, he participated with the Canadian junior national team at the World Youth Championship. In both years he won with his team the gold medal. In the final they beat each team from Russia with 6:1 or 5:0.
