CAM Timișoara

CAM Timişoara was a Romanian football club based in Timişoara, Timiş county. He played two years in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A, and reached in 1938 the Romanian Cup final.

History

CAM Timişoara was ( RGMT German Gymnastics Association of Workers from Timişoara abbreviated ) under the name Reuniunea de GIMNASTICA a muncitorilor din Timişoara in 1911 founded. When the city of Timişoara came to Romania by the Treaty of Trianon, RGMT took part in qualifying for the Romanian football championship, but could be in the region Timişoara until 1930, against the competition of Chinezul, the leading Romanian club of the 1920s, to enforce.

As the professional league Divizia A was founded in 1932, RGMT was one of the founding members, but were relegated again in the first year. Since the Divizia B did not exist, the club was able to participate as a founding member on the national game operation only since 1934.

In 1936, merged with local rivals RGMT CA Timişoara and changed its name in Clubul atletic club Muncitoresc din Timisoara ( German Workers Sports Club of Timisoara, abbreviated CAMT ). Two years later, in 1938 achieve the greatest success in its history the club by reaching the Cup finals. A year later, CAMT rose again in the Divizia A, but from which the club had relegated at the end of the season 1939/40, since it was supported by the unions.

After the end of World War II, CAMT concluded with local rivals Chinezul Timişoara together and came first in the 1946/47 season under the name Chinezul -CAM Timişoara, but this changed in the year 1946 in CAM Timişoara. After descending from the Divizia B in 1949, the club disbanded.
