Câmara de Lobos is a Portuguese city on the island of Madeira. It is regarded as the Madeiran fishing village par excellence, and became famous as the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill immortalized the place in a painting. At this historical event, a commemorative plaque in the town center. The place name means cave of the monk seals. Today, however, hardly more monk seals are seen on this coast.

Above the city, Câmara de Lobos, the main growing region for the Madeira wine extends. In the West, the Cabo Girão rises, the second highest sea cliff in the world (height: 580 m).

To the east of the town is the only steam power plant on the island, as well as a brewery and cement silos, where the embarked from the mother -land cement is stored.
