The Cambridge Optical Aperture Synthesis Telescope ( COAST ) is an astronomical interferometer at the Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory in Cambridgeshire, England. It consists of five over siderostats steerable Cassegrain telescopes with 40 cm mirror diameter, which together can be separated by a base length of up to 100 m, angular resolutions of up to 0.001 arcsec reach. With COAST succeeded for the first time, take high-resolution images of stellar surfaces.
