Camille Mauclair

Severin own or Camille Mauclair ( born 29 December 1872 in Paris, † April 23, 1945 same place ) as a pseudonym was a French poet, writer of short stories, biographer, author of travel literature, art historian and art critic. During World War II he was a supporter of the Vichy government, which worked closely with the German occupying forces in France.

Life

Mauclair began as a poet and wrote short stories. He also worked as an art critic for a number of magazines. From the mid-1890s was followed by novels and dozens of publications on visual artists to musicians and music, museums and art history of cities and landscapes.

His poems were by composers such as Ernest Chausson ( Trois Songs op 27), Ernest Bloch, Gustave Charpentier, Ernest Chausson and Nadia Boulanger, set to music at the beginning of the 1920s, some of his poems, edited. He also wrote the libretto for the 1940 in Paris, premiered at the Opéra -Comique Conte Lyrique Nele Dooryn. Together with Lugné Poe he founded in Paris, the Théâtre de l' Oeuvre.
