Camillo Francesco Maria Pamphili

Camillo Francesco Maria Pamphili, also Pamphili, ( born February 21, 1622 Naples, † July 26, 1666 in Rome) was a general of the papal army and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He came from the Umbrian noble family of Pamphili. His uncle, his father's brother, was Giovanni Battista Pamphili, who later became Pope Innocent X ( 1644-1655 ).

History

Father of Camillo Francesco Maria Pamphili Pamphilio Pamphij was the nobleman, who was married to Olimpia Maidalchini. They moved to the assumption of office of his father's brother, who worked as Apostolic Nuncio in the Kingdom of Naples, Naples. Here studied Camillo Francesco humanism, philosophy, mathematics and architecture. When his uncle Giovanni Battista took over the Nunciature in Madrid was succeeded by his nephew.

After his father's death intensified the family relationship between his mother Olimpia Maidalchini and her brother Giovanni Battista, they exerted a considerable influence on the choice of her brother to the future pope. After the election of his uncle Pope Innocent X, he was promoted to general in the papal army and headed the armed force in the fight against the Duchy of Castro.

On November 14, 1644 he was elevated to cardinal deacon of Santa Maria in Domnica. In the young age of twenty-two years he was regarded as a gallant and friendly young man and showed interest in young women. Especially, it did him the Duke of Borghese († 1646) widow, who was born Olimpia Aldobrandini on.

Family

On January 21, 1647 he resigned from his ecclesiastical office and married on February 10, 1647 Olimpia Aldobrandini. From this marriage four children were born:

  • Flaminia Pamphili († 1709),
  • Teresa Pamphili (1650-1704),
  • Anna Pamphili ( 1652-1728 ). Anna married in 1671 the Genoese Giovanni Andreas Doria, involved the Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome and is considered the founder of the branch - Doria Pamphili - Landi
