Camões Prize

The Prémio Camões, Portuguese for Camões Prize, named after the famous Portuguese writer Luís de Camões, is the most important literary prize of the Portuguese -speaking world. It is awarded annually since 1989 by the Instituto Camões ( the Cultural Institute of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs ) and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture affiliated Fundação Biblioteca Nacional to writers of outstanding works in Portuguese. The award is valued at the equivalent of about 100,000 euros.
