The spiked bellflower ( Campanula spicata ) is a species of the genus of the bellflower (Campanula ) in the family of the bellflower family ( Campanulaceae ).

Description

The spiked Bellflower is a biennial herbaceous plant that reaches the plant height of 15 to 80 centimeters. The plant is rauhaarig. The stem is simple and erect. The basal leaves are narrow lanceolate, wavy rim and narrowing in the stem. The stem leaves have a rounded base and are almost amplexicaul sitting. The numerous flowers are arranged in a more or less dense and long ear. They are blue purple, 15 to 25 millimeters long and bell-shaped to funnel-shaped. Most sit several flowers in a blade angle. The cup has blunt bays and has no appendages. The sepals are hairy, lanceolate, and about one third as long as the flower.

The flowering period extends from June to August.

Occurrence

The spiked campanula is found in the Southern and Central Alps, the Apennines, in Abruzzo and on the Balkan Peninsula. The species grows mainly in the montane zone on dry and stony soils on steep slopes, cliffs, screes and rocky dry plains of valleys at altitudes of 2000 meters. It is scattered to frequent.
