Magellan Woodpecker ( Campephilus magellanicus )

Campephilus is an American genus of woodpeckers ( Picidae family ). The genus was introduced by George Robert Gray, who suggested the ivory woodpecker ( Campephilus principalis ) as the type species for the genus. The name Campephilus (from gr κάμπια Kampia for caterpillar and φιλία philia for friendship, love) refers to the preference for larvae as food.
