Campo (Blenio ) is a village and formerly independent municipality in the district Blenio of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. As of October 22, 2006 Campo was merged with Aquila, Ghirone, Olivone and Torre to the new community Blenio.

Geography

The former municipal territory largely coincides with the Val di Campo, a right tributary of the upper Blenio. Just on the junction into the main valley lies the small scattered village Campo, the valley contains the hamlet Pianchera, Calcarida and Orsaira. End of the valley to the summit of Pizzo del Corvo raise ( 3'015 m asl. ) And Cima della Bianca ( 2893 m); over the Passo Cristallina ( 2'398 m above sea level. M. ) leads a mule track to Lukmanier route in Graubunden Oberland.

Neighboring communities were Ghirone Olivone in the Ticino Canton Medel ( Lucmagn ) in the canton of Grisons.

Fusion community

The Canton of Parliament on 25 January 2005 adopted originally by the spring of 2006 proposed merger of the five municipalities of the upper valley portion was delayed by an appeal of the municipality of Aquila. After the Federal Court dismissed the complaint in April 2006, the road to fusion was free.
