Cándido Alves Moreira da Costa (born 30 May 1981 in São João da Madeira ) is a Portuguese football player. Since the summer of 2012, he stands at CD Tondela under contract.

Career

Emerged from the youth of Benfica 's career Cândido Costa began in 1999 at SC Salgueiros in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. In the winter he moved to FC Porto, where he first came into use only in the second team. Before the start of the 2000/01 season, he came into the squad for the first team, but was there only used irregularly.

In order to gain match practice, Costa was loaned in the second half of the 2002/03 season to the league rivals Vitória Setúbal, where he did not avoid relegation in the Liga de Honra account. After returning to Porto agreed his club again a lending transaction - this time with Derby County in the English Football League First Division (then the second- highest division ). With Derby he managed just avoiding relegation.

In the summer of 2004, Costa Porto left and moved within the Super League to Sporting Braga. Also in Braga, he did not regularly used, so that he moved to league rivals Belenenses Lisbon in the summer of 2006. Was he there at first still a regular player, his missions were later rarer. At the same time, the club fell from the mid-table in the relegation battle. After the descent could only be avoided due to the forced descent from Estrela Amadora in the 2008 /09 season, Belenenses were relegated in the following season, where Costa could intervene in only one third of the games.

For the 2010/11 season he left Portugal and joined the Romanian club Rapid Bucharest. There he could not prevail, and came infrequently used.
