The Canon EOS 20D is a semi-professional digital SLR ( DSLR) cameras by Canon. The camera was introduced in September 2004 as the successor of the Canon EOS 10D. The successor to the 20D, the Canon EOS 30D.
Properties
The CMOS sensor in APS -C format delivers at the highest resolution images at a resolution of 3504 × 2336 pixels (effective 8.2 million pixels). The autofocus has nine ranges on display with the active measuring points in the viewfinder. Canon 20D used for the first time in this class, the DIGIC II processor. Especially compared to the DIGIC in the previous version, as in the previous model, Canon EOS 10D, this is many times faster in processing the image data and brings a noticeable improvement. With the Canon 20D as continuous shooting at up to 23 images are possible due at five frames per second. Like the Canon 10D also has the 20D a housing made of magnesium. The case is, however, not particularly well protected against splashing water here. The battery compartment and the CF card slot have no seal. For a USB 2.0 connection ensures quick transfer of images to a USB host.
The Canon EF-S lens mount, previously introduced with the EOS 300D enables the connection of Canon lenses in the EF -S series, which are matched by the smaller image circle, for digital cameras with APS-C sensors, and only on this bayonet fit. Furthermore, the use of Canon EF lenses or lenses from other manufacturers (eg, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina ) possible. Adapters make other miniature camera lenses available, eg those with the previously widespread in Germany M42 screw mount.
The camera controls the flash mode, only the E-TTL or E- TTL2 mode so that older system flashes like the Canon Speedlite 540EZ only work in manual mode or like the Canon Ring Flash ML -3 does not ignite. Therefore, the manufacturer recommends the use of E-TTL -compatible devices, the EX- series, such as the Canon Speedlite 580EX.
EOS 20Da
The EOS 20Da is a special version of the 20D, which was designed for astrophotography. It has a modified low-pass filter, which are important for astronomical observation wavelength range of the alpha line of hydrogen (H α, Fraunhofer line) absorbs less.
