Canray Fontenot

Canray Fontenot ( born October 16, 1922 in L' anse Aux Vachesla, Louisiana; † 29 July 1995 Welsh, Louisiana) was an American Cajun musicians. He has been called the last of the great Creole Cajun Fiddler. Among his most famous songs include Joe Pitre a Deux Femmes, Les Barres de la Prison and Bonsou Moreau.

Fontenot, who grew up on a farm, had musical parents who both played accordion. His father Adam Fontenot enjoyed a certain popularity in Southwest Louisiana. Later Canray recordings made ​​almost all the songs of his father. He became known as the accordionist Bois Sec Ardoin partner.
