Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne

The Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne ( KUB ) is a public institution with a cultural, academic and patrimonial order. It has three more seats:

  • Library of Dorigny
  • Law and Economics Library
  • Library of Riponne

On March 14, 2011, a fourth seat, the Library of Cedars, definitely closed.

Since the KUB is subordinated to the culture department of the Canton, she also serves the university community and the general public Vaud. It collects all the documentation the canton of Vaud in question.

Chronology

1537 founded the Bernese the Lausanne Academy. Same time, the library of the Academy was probably established, which was open at first only the professors. Only 1750 students were given the right to inspect the books of the library for two hours per week. 1806, the Library of the Academy became the Canton Library, 1898 Cantonal and University Library. An open to the public reading room was opened in 1825. The Palais de Rumine in which the Cantonal and University Library was housed, was inaugurated in 1906.

The computerized library system Sibil (Système pour les informatisé bibliothèques de Lausanne) developed the Cantonal and University Library in 1971.   • Vaud composite: The General Catalogue of KUB is integrated in the Vaud Library Network.
  • Pérunil: this catalog, the electronic journals by the KUB (ie Periodicals available in the domain of the University of Lausanne); these, however, are not listed in the Vaud composite.
  • Databases: are mainly used to find articles that are also not in the overall catalog of KUB.
  • Multimedia of Riponne: allows the search of the library media Riponne for knowledge areas.
