Cape Breton Screaming Eagles

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are a Canadian ice hockey team from Sydney, Nova Scotia. The team plays since 1997 in one of the three highest Canadian Junior Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League ( QMJHL ).

History

The Granby prédateurs in 1997 of Granby, Quebec, to Sydney, Nova Scotia, relocated and renamed the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In their first three seasons in the QMJHL they reached the playoffs right away to the Coupe du Président, but left each in the first round. The Eagles, who have yet to reach at least the first playoff round in each season, qualified in the 2001/ 02 season, the first time for the final, subject, however, Acadie - Bathurst Titan there in the best- of-seven series with 1:4 victories. In the 2006/07 season the Eagles moved to the second and so far last time in the final of the QMJHL one, lost there after victories over the St. John's Fog Devils ( 4-0) and Acadie - Bathurs titanium ( 4:1) the Foreurs de Val- d'Or almost 3:4. In the 2008 /09 season Cape Breton failed after a sweep against the Saint John Sea Dogs in the first round in round 2 with 3:4 victories at the Remparts de Québec.

Blocked numbers

The number of 29 Marc -Andre Fleury, who was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003 as the first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins, will no longer be awarded by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles since 25 January 2008.
