Kapfrankolin

The Kapfrankolin ( Francolinus capensis ) is a species of the genus of Frankoline from the family of pheasant -like ( Phasianidae ). It is native to the Cape provinces of South Africa and in Namibia.

Appearance

The Kapfrankolin is 40-42 inches tall, the male is on average larger than the female. He has bright red legs. Its plumage is very dark and permeated with subtle gray and white lines. Only the neck and the top of the head are plain solid color. Males and females are equal to the feathers ago, but the male has two spurs on the legs, while the female has a maximum spur. The young parents see similar, but have darker legs and cleaner lines in the plumage. This large dark francolin can hardly be confused with another type. Way of life

The Kapfrankolin lives in open, scrub rich area, as close to rivers. Its nest is a lined with grassy hollow under a bush.
