Caplan's syndrome

As Caplan syndrome or Silikoarthritis ( rarely also Caplan Collinet syndrome, or rheumatoid pneumoconiosis Silikoarthrose ) is known in human medicine the rare combination of quartz pneumoconiosis (silicosis ) and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Affected workers are predominantly in the coal industry.

If rounded opacities of a certain minimum amount detectable in the X-ray image with relevant occupational history, an indication is based on suspicion of an occupational disease.

Was named the syndrome after its discoverer Anthony Caplan ( English physician, 1907-1976 ).
