Hollands Glorie, roman van de zeesleepvaart by Jan de Hartog is a novel with the maritime theme, here specifically the Seeschleppfahrt. The book describes the heavy, dangerous and poorly paid also lives in the Seeschleppfahrt. The story takes place at the beginning of the 20th century 1906-1920 protagonist. 's The sailor January Wandelaar. Wandelaar begins as a sailor, rises to the helmsman and eventually an internationally known captain in the Seeschleppfahrt. He is the direct competitor of Kwel & Co. but recently he concludes peace with Kwel & Co, he proposes to merge in front of the establishments under the condition that the previous head Kwel resigning from his position.

TV series

In 1976 the book was filmed as a television series. In November 2008, the series was released on DVD ( so far only Dutch).

Hollands Glorie in World War II

Hollands Glorie appeared in 1940, although the book has no political content, but it was. Carried the title of a best-seller in the occupied Netherlands and the symbol against the German occupiers De Hartog therefore had to go into hiding and fled to England.
