Capucho (footballer)

Nuno Capucho [ nunu kɐpuʃu ] ( born February 21, 1972 in Barcelos; Nuno Fernando Gonçalves da Rocha actually ) is a former Portuguese football player.

Career

Club teams

Capucho began his professional career with the club of his hometown, the Gil Vicente FC in 1990., Where he played two seasons until he moved to the capital in 1992 to Sporting Lisbon. There, he won his first title since 1995 after he was cup winner with Sporting. In the same year Capucho left the club, however, towards Vitória Guimarães. In 1997 he moved to FC Porto, where he had his most successful period as a professional. With FC Porto he was three -time national champion and four- time Cup winner. However, the greatest success was winning the UEFA Cup in 2003 against Celtic in Seville.

After the successful Triple - season with FC Porto, winning the championship, National Cup and European Cup, Capucho joined the Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. However, he returned after only one season back on the Iberian Peninsula back and went to Celta de Vigo in Spain. Here he finished his career in 2006.

National

The greatest success with the national team he had in 1991 at the U- 20 World Cup. As a member of a golden generation, he won, along with players such as Luís Figo, Rui Costa and Fernando Couto, the world title.

In the 1996 Olympics he participated in football competitions, where the team finished in fourth place.

With the senior team, he stood at Euro 2000 and World Cup 2002 in the Portuguese squad.
