History

The first plans for the construction of a subway along the lines of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, there was already in 1938. Nevertheless, only began in the later seventies the first construction work on a metro line. Particularly through the increasingly important oil industry, the capital developed very quickly. 1965 exceeded the population of the two- million mark.

The first line of the linea 1 between stations Propatria and La Hoyada was put into operation on 2 January 1983, the line had eight stations. Just under four months later, on 27 March of the same year, the route was again extended by six stops to Chacaíto. The construction of the first line has been operated and developed by a French consortium of 14 companies, which was coordinated Réalisation transport Urbains by the Société Française d' Etudes et de.

In 1987, the second, but not connected to the rest of the network line 2 between La Paz and the two ends Zoológico or Las Adjuntas followed. In subsequent years, the two lines 1 and 2 were connected and extended to the present state.

On December 18, 1994 completed a third line that runs from north to south, the power of the Caracas Metro. The 4.4 km long route between Plaza Venezuela and El Valle has five stations. On October 15, 2006, additional features of the Line 3 drive from the terminus El Valle without stopping to local railway station La Rinconada, there is connection to the suburban trains to Charallave and Cúa. Since the completion of the intermediate stations in January 2010 Line 3 runs continuously from Plaza Venezuela to La Rinconada.

The first stages of a southern line parallel to the line 1 were opened on 19 July 2006. This new line also took on the road to Las Adjuntas and is currently being implemented as a variant of line 2. Internally, this line number 4 It is planned to have also officially this name after an eastern extension.

Construction and planning

Medium term, the line 4 continues to run parallel to line 1 in the second stage and end at the Parque del Este Metro Station. Confusingly, this eastern extension route sometimes called line 5, but is not to be confused with the below mentioned planning.

Further plans relate inter alia to line 3, so should a future connection to the Zoológico train station with line 2. Coming from the south to later line 3 left after the station El Valle previous route to the north and on the stations Prado de María, El Peaje, San Agustín, Fuerzas Armadas ( changing to line 1 and 4), Urdaneta ( transition to the planned line lead 6 ) to San Jose.

The eastern Streckenast line 2 Las Adjuntas to the future to the El Tambor Train Station stop ( Metro Los Teques ).

Next the congested line is to be supplemented by a one of its north line running 6. From the westerly Los Magallanes want the line to run parallel to the line 6 1 heading east and ending in La Urbina. Transfer points are provided (planned extension of line 3) at the stations Gato Negro (line 1 ) Agua Salud ( line 1) and Urdaneta. To connect the south-east of Caracas and the metro network is further a line 5 planned. This should result in a semicircle of Santa Ana on Santa Marta, Chuao ( changing to line 4), Tamanaco ( changing to line 4 ), La Trinidad to El Hatillo.
