Carcharhiniformes

Blacktip reef shark ( Carcharhinus melanopterus )

The ground sharks are one of the eight orders of sharks, which in turn can be divided into eight families with 48 genera and about 260 species. Many of the typical species of sharks such as the great hammerhead ( Sphyrna mokarran ), the silky shark ( Carcharhinus falciformis ), tiger shark ( Galeacerdo cuiver ) or the bull shark ( Carcharhinus leucas ) belong to this order.

The distribution of ground sharks are mainly the coastal regions of tropical to temperate seas. However, these are the members of the family of the false cat shark to deep water forms. Also, there are species such as the bull shark, which lives in brackish water and sometimes even in fresh water can be found ( for example, in Lake Nicaragua ).
