Cargo Air is a Bulgarian cargo airline based in Sofia and bases at the airports of Plovdiv and Sofia.

History

Since Vega Airlines was on the list of the operating bans for the airspace of the European Union and it prohibited the Bulgarian air traffic control to fly in or over the territory of the EU, Vega Airlines changed its name since November 2007 as Cargo Air Thereupon Cargo Air worldwide General Sales Agent for the cargo airline Rubystar from Belarus and offered logistics services with partial or full charter aircraft Antonov An -12 and Ilyushin Il -76 for its customers.

Cargo Air sold its Antonov An-12 finally to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. End of October 2007 concluded Cargo Air from a purchase contract for a Boeing 737- 300F with the American Society GA TELESIS. In July 2009 Cargoair started to fly in the European network for TNT Airways. This was followed in September 2009, the purchase of a second Boeing 737- 300F with the registration LZ -CGP, which is used since July 2010. Due to increasing demand for long-term wet lease and ad hoc charter a third 737- 300F was purchased, which was delivered in September 2011.

As of November 2013, the fleet of Air Cargo consists of four aircraft with an average age of 24.7 years:

  • 3 Boeing 737- 300F ( operated for European Air Transport Leipzig)
  • 1 Boeing 737- 400F ( operated for European Air Transport Leipzig)
