Papaya fruit ( Carica papaya)

The Melon Tree ( Carica, Syn: Papaya million ) are a genus of flowering plants in the family tree of the melon plants ( Caricaceae ).

Description

Carica species are small trees or shrubs. The alternate, stalked, simple leaves usually have a hand-shaped leaf blade ( siebenlappig ).

They are monoecious getrenntgeschlechtig ( monoecious ) or the flowers are hermaphroditic. The yellowish flowers are fünfzählig. The five sepals are fused at the base. The petals are fused Roehrig; in the male flowers, the corolla tube is long, short in the female. There are two circles, each with five stamens present. The carpels are fused into a superior ovaries. The stamp has five scars. The large berries contain many seeds.

System

Some authors only one kind remaining in the genus, the other species in the genera Vasconcellea, Jacaratia and Jarilla.
