Carl-Axel Acking

Carl -Axel Acking (* March 8, 1910, † 12 June 2001 ) was a Swedish architect and furniture designer.

Carl -Axel Acking studied at the Art School and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. From 1939 he had his own architectural office.

During the 1940s and 1950s Acking was one of the most important furniture designers of Sweden. His creations were, among other things produced by the Nordiska Kompaniet and the Kooperativa Förbundet. As a shaper, he created wallpaper and textile patterns, a stamp vending machine and a telephone booth. As an architect, he designed the Stockholm hotels Malmen (1951) and Continental (1962). At the World Exhibition in Helsingborg in 1955, H55, he was the principal architect and drew the exhibition pavilions. Other works are: Hässelby Familjhotell in Stockholm (1955), Quality Hotel Ostersund (1956 ), Skåne banks in Malmö (1965) and Birgittakyrkan in Skön (1972).
