Carl Lange (actor)

Carl Adolf Lange ( born October 30, 1909 in Flensburg, † June 23, 1999 in Ostfildern ) was a German actor and radio speaker. He has performed under the name Carl Lange and Karl Lange.

Life

Long was initially scenes and decorative painter and gave his first performance in 1925 in Flensburg. He has performed at various theaters, including in Tilsit. In 1938 he was senior director at Grenzlandtheater in Zittau. From 1946 to 1958 he worked at Stuttgart stages.

But the mid-fifties appeared Lange also in feature films. Lange was due to his short hair and his voice as the ideal performer of officers, nobles and other elders. Some of his characters were sincere, such as the Governor in Winnetou Part 3 or Colonel Munroe in Last of the Mohicans, others were dubious characters such as Reverend Hopkins in The Witcher, the physician Dr. Mangrove in the blue hand or the servant Anatol in The Snake Pit and the pendulum. In the Ganghofer adaptation Schloß Hubertus he played the inaccessible and hunting -obsessed Count Egge.

Frequently Lange was involved in television dramas with historical background and literary films and crime series, in which he acted in the usual roll compartment.
