Carl Semper

Karl Gottfried Semper ( born July 6, 1832 in Altona, † May 29, 1893 in Würzburg ) was a German naturalist, zoologist and explorer. He was the nephew of the famous architect Gottfried Semper.

Life

Semper studied at the Technische Hochschule in Hannover, where he became in 1852 a member of the Corps Visurgia. He later taught at the University of Würzburg. Worth he made his name in numerous studies on the population living in the tropics lower animals he had met through his many years of residence in the South Seas.
