Carl T. C. Gutierrez

Carl Tommy Cruz Gutierrez ( * October 15, 1941 in Agana Heights, Guam ) is an American politician. Between 1995 and 2003 he was Governor of Guam.

Career

Carl Gutierrez grew up during the Japanese occupation of his homeland and lived there as a child the horrors of imprisonment in a Japanese concentration camp. Later he graduated to 1960, the San Francisco High School. Subsequently, he served 1960-1965 in the United States Air Force. Later he worked for the government of Guam in the data processing. He also ran his own consulting firm. Between 1973 and 1986, and from 1989 to 1994 he was a member of the legislature of Guam. At times, he was president of this chamber. Since 1994 he was a member of the Tax Committee. He was 1977 President of the Constitutional Convention of the outside area. In addition, he also served as president of the Association of Pacific Iceland Legislatures and the Asian - Pacific Parliamentarian 's Union.

In 1978, Carl Gutierrez competed unsuccessfully as an independent candidate for the office of the Governor of Guam.
