Carl Wesenberg-Lund

Carl Jørgen Wesenberg -Lund ( born December 22, 1867 in Copenhagen, † November 12, 1955 ) was a Danish biologist. Wesenberg was the name of the mother, the father of Lund.

Life and work

Wesenberg -Lund 1887 and 1893 Master's student of zoology and assistant at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural College in his hometown. With the support of the state and the Carlsberg Foundation, he established a laboratory for the study of the biology of fresh water in Hillerød, of which he was. Wesenberg -Lund examined both plants and animals (mainly) of freshwater and published his findings about in Scripture plankton investigations of Danish lakes ( 1900-1908 ). Large spread in German-speaking thanks to translations and editing a by Otto Storch found the two works Biology of Freshwater Animals ( 1939) and biology of freshwater insects ( 1943), which are far from obsolete and are therefore repeatedly reissued.
