Carlo Chiostri

Carlo Chiostri ( born May 5, 1863 in Florence, † July 9, 1939 ) was an Italian artist and illustrator. He was best known for his illustrations of fairy tales, including the illustrations of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

Federico Fellini said of the Pinocchio and his Illustrator:

In addition to Pinocchio, he illustrated over 200 books, especially for publishers Salani, Bemporad and Nerbini, including as works of fiction by Victor Hugo I miserabili ( " Les Miserables " ), Alessandro Manzoni's I Promessi Sposi ( " The Betrothed " ) and Silvio Pellico Le mie Prisoners ( " My prisons "), and from the realm of fairytale Luigi Capuanas Schiaccianoci and Il raccontafiabe and Emma Perodis Al tempo dei tempi.

He was the father of Sophia Chiostri (1898-1944) is known as view maps artist. He had another daughter named Evelina.
