Carlo Forlanini

Carlo Forlanini ( born June 11, 1847 in Milan, † May 26 1918 in Nervia ) was an Italian physician.

Forlanini in 1870 received his doctorate at the University of Pavia in medicine. In 1900 he became Professor of Clinical Medicine in Pavia.

He is considered the inventor of the art of artificial pneumothorax for the treatment of Pulmonaltuberkulose.

The Carlo Forlanini Institute in Rome is named after him.

His brother is the aviation pioneer Enrico Forlanini ( 1848-1930 ).
