Carlo Pallavicino

Carlo Pallavicini, also Pallavicino (* around 1630 in Salò, † January 29, 1688 in Dresden) was an Italian composer.

Life

From 1666 to 1673 he worked at the Dresden court, from 1674 to 1685 at the Ospedale degli Incurabili ( a Conservatory trained musically to the orphans ) in Venice, then again in Dresden. In August and September 1687, he was with the concert master Georg Gottfried baking straw in Venice. He applied for extension of his leave because his wife expecting their confinement, but this was rejected. His grave is located in St. Mary Star monastery.

He created more than 20 operas, which arrived in Venice and Dresden for the world premiere, further an oratorio and sacred music. His son, the Dresden court poet Stefano Pallavicini was a famous librettist.
