Carlo Ratti

Carlo Ratti (born 1971 in Turin ) is an Italian architect and engineer.

Life

He is a graduate of the Politecnico di Torino and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris and also holds an M.Phil degree and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Cambridge. Ratti has co-authored over 200 publications and holds several patents. His work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, in Disseny Hub Barcelona, ​​the Science Museum in London, at the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts in San Francisco and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Its digital water pavilion at the World Expo 2008 in Saragossa was called by Time Magazine as one of the best inventions of the year.

In June 2007, Ratti was appointed by the Italian Minister of Culture as a member of the Italian Design Council, an advisory committee of the Italian government, which is composed of 25 leaders of the Italian design industry. In 2009 he was also appointed as the inaugural Innovator in Residence of the Australian state of Queensland. He has also been in publication 60: Innovators Shaping Our Creative Future presented and performed in the " 2008 Best & Brightest " list of Esquire Magazine. 2010, the magazine Blueprint chose him among the richtungsweisendsten heads into the future of design ( " 25 People Who Will Change the World of Design" ), and in 2011 he was led by Forbes as one of the " most important names of the year".
