Carlo Saraceni

Carlo Saraceni (* 1570 in Venice, † June 16, 1620 ) was an Italian painter.

Life

In 1600 Saraceni went to Rome and stayed for most of his life there. He could have been a pupil Adam Elsheimer, but was also strongly influenced by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. From his small- scale landscapes in copper ones are the best mythological themes. In 1616 he collaborated with Giovanni Lanfranco on frescoes in the Sala Regia of the Quirinal Palace. He died in Venice, where he was entrusted with the decoration of the Hall of the Great Council.
