Carlos Ãlvarez (baritone)
Carlos Álvarez ( born August 12, 1966 in Málaga ) is a Spanish opera singer (baritone ).
Life and work
Carlos Álvarez studied at the conservatory in his hometown. His stage debut in 1990, he celebrated at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in La Sorozábals Pablo del manojo de rosas. Since then he has appeared in leading roles in major opera houses in the world: La Scala, Covent Garden, the Opéra Bastille, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, the Teatro Real, at the Bavarian as the Hamburg State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Washington National Opera and the Zurich Opera.
At the Vienna State Opera, he made his debut in 1995 as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and sang since then fifteen roles in nearly 170 performances, including the 2013/14 season (re) cast as Sulpice in La Fille du régiment.
At the Salzburg Festival in 1998 and 1999 he played Rodrigo Marchese di Posa in the five-act French version of Verdi's Don Carlo on, 2008, he was there the Iago in Otello.

- 2001 Latin Grammy Award for the total intake of Isaac Albéniz 's Merlin with Álvarez in the title role and Plácido Domingo as King Arthur

- 2006 Grammy Award for the complete recording of Verdi's Falstaff with Álvarez Ford
