Carlos Marchena López ( born July 31, 1979 in Las Cabezas, Seville ) is a Spanish football player.

Association

Marchena until 2000 when Sevilla FC active. At 20 he played his first game for the first team in a 2-2 draw against Real Sociedad in August 1999. During his year-long stint at Benfica in Lisbon (2000/ 01), he played so convincingly that FC Valencia interested in him and took him in the summer of 2001 for a four -year contract.

In the first season (2001/ 02) Marchena had teething problems, but the second year he was Spanish champion with Valencia. In the 2003 /04 season he made together with Roberto Ayala, probably the best interior defense that Valencia has ever had. So you could win the Spanish Cup, the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup this year. Marchena was appointed to the squad for the Euro 2004 Through this good performance. National team

In the national team he first came on 21 August 2002 against Hungary (1:1 ) are used. He participated in the 2004 European Cup, 2006 World Cup, Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup in part.
