Carnage (Band)

Carnage was a Swedish death metal band from Stockholm, which was founded in 1988 under the name Global Carnage and 1990 redissolved.

History

The band was formed in 1988 by guitarist Michael Amott and bassist and vocalist Johan Liiva as Global Carnage. A short time later guitarist Johnny Dordevic, and drummer Jeppe Larsson were added. The band released in 1989 with The Day Man Lost and Infestation of Evil two demos. The band underwent a frequent line-up changes, so Michael Amott was a founding member yet represented on the album Dark Recollections in 1990. As new members vocalist Matti Kärki, guitarist David Blomkuist and drummer Fred Estby were represented. Even before the album was officially released, the band broke up again. The album was originally included on the split release Dark Recollections / Hallucinating Anxiety that appeared on Necrosis Records, a sub- label of Earache Records. It was re-released in 2000 with bonus songs.

Michael Amott joined after the dissolution of Carcass and later founded with Johan Liiva Arch Enemy and Spiritual Beggars. Matti Kärki, David Blomqvist and Fred Estby played with Dismember.

Style

The band began as grindcore project, which turned into an old-school death metal project over time. The music is compared with the Dismembers album Like an Ever Flowing Stream.
