Action
Lilli is broke. The young and beautiful woman is then mediated by the random friend Toni to a circus, with which it will henceforth go on trips. At this circus of the daring trapeze artist French Lilli works falls in love with Franz and marries him. But Toni feels more than just professional friendship for Lilli. He is after her and there continues to be a good consultant naive Lilli. Lilli is the counselor of hearing and this uses the girl out. However, Toni wants to be more than just the fatherly friend of Lila. His jealousy of Franz finally brings him to the murder of his rivals. However, the assassination of Franz also destroys the relationship with Lilli, the true man suddenly realizes behind the good facade.
Background
Eva Bartok, and Curd Jürgens were regarded as one of the dream couple of the German film mid-1950s. One year after the premiere of the common film married Eva Bartok, and Curd Jürgens. The marriage has already been divorced a year later. The world premiere of the film took place in June 1954 during the Berlinale in Berlin forest stage in front of 25,000 spectators instead. The film, however, fell by the audience and was booed mercilessly. The Berlin audience immediately created an alternative ironic title: Fummel place of love
Director Kurt Neumann had already premiered in April 1954 its American version of this film under the title Carnival story in the USA. Here the female lead was played by Anne Baxter, in the fairground of love has a cameo.
