Carole Terry

Carole Ruth Terry ( * 1948 ) is an American organist, harpsichordist and music teacher.

Life

Carole Terry received her musical training at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas ( organ with Robert T. Anderson, harpsichord with Larry Palmer ), the Eastman School of Music ( organ with David Craighead ) and Stanford University, where in 1977 the Doctor of Musical Arts doctorate. Her teachers at Stanford were Herbert Nanney (organ), Margaret Fabrizio (harpsichord ) and Joan Benson ( fortepiano and clavichord ). In 1979 she was appointed professor for organ and harpsichord at the University of Washington in Seattle. From 2000 to 2003 she was resident organist and curator of the Fisk organ at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, the home of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.

Her international concert career as organist and harpsichordist led by the United States, Europe and Asia. In addition, she is a much sought-after jury member at international organ competitions and course lecturer in the field of historical performance practice.
