Carotta

Carotta (. . Ger " red house " of venet ca ' and Altit rotto ) is the name of:

  • Gioacchino Carotta († April 23, 1556 ), Italian conductor and singer in the Sistine Chapel ( 1547-52 )
  • Francesco Carotta ( b. 1946 ), Italian historian and historian of religion
  • Michael Carotta, American author of books on religion and former Director-General in the National Catholic Educational Association

Carotta and the plural form Carotte and the variant Casarotta are still rare place names, especially of hamlets and farms in northern Italy, for example Fornace Carotta ( Fiesso Umbertiano, Rovigo ), Carotta ( at Quinzano, Verona ) and Casarotta ( at Loro Ciuffenna ) but also by districts such as Carotte ( Pedemonte, Vicenza ).
