Carroll Baker

Carroll Baker (actually Karolina Piekarski; born May 28, 1931 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania ) is an American actress of Polish origin.

Life

In the early 1950s Carroll Baker was formed at Lee Strasberg's Actors Studio - together with the same age James Dean. 1953, she starred opposite Brian Aherne her first starring role on Broadway.

Three years later she met in her first major film back to James Dean. In giants, she played the daughter of Rock Hudson and Elizabeth Taylor, who was nine months younger in real life than Baker.

After beginning her film career, she returned only once zurück.1962 on the stage floor staged Garson Kanin with her his play Come On Strong. Here she played alongside Van Johnson.

Warner Bros. wanted to build a new Marilyn Monroe and, accordingly, their roles were selected. Her breakthrough came as a child in her third feature film Baby Doll, directed by Elia Kazan. Although pretty, 1.65 meters wide Carroll Baker starred in other successful films, its reputation should not have the reach of Marilyn Monroe. In 1965 she was awarded the title role in the film adaptation of the life of the first bombshell of Hollywood: Jean Harlow. In the late 1960s, she went to Europe and turned there until the mid- 1970's, among other things, some of today revered as a cult films Gialli. In 1976, she starred in Andy Warhol 's Bad with.

In the 1990s she was on exhibition until 2003 mainly in television productions in the United States. Carroll Baker was married from 1982 until his death in 2007 in his third marriage to actor Donald Burton. Her daughter, Blanche Baker, who comes from the marriage to director Jack Garfein, is also active as an actress.
