Carsac-Aillac

The community Carsac- Aillac lies on the right bank of the Dordogne in the department of Dordogne of the French Périgord. The management unit with 1521 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) is a fusion of Carsac -de- Carlux with Aillac since 1961.

The church of Saint -Caprais Carsac is an example of the rustic, rural construction in the region. The medieval, stone- roofed building is free, within a broad esplanade in the center. The church is of Romanesque origin, but the nave and the aisles have Gothic ribbed vault, which were drafted in the 16th century. At the chorus, a covered by a semi-dome Romanesque apse follows, which is decorated with capitals in the archaic oriental style.
