Cartigny (Somme)

Cartigny ( Picard: Quèrtgny ) is a commune with 737 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Peronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.

Geography

Cartigny is located east of Peronne on the road D194 Territory and south of the river Cologne. The municipality consists of the villages Brusle and Beaumetz. The railway line from Peronne after Roisel who owned a station in Cartigny is degraded.

History

In Le Catelet south of the community center was a branch of the Knights Templar, which was probably founded in the 12th century.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
