Cary is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is located about 75 kilometers northwest from the city of Chicago, the Chicago Loop and just under 50 miles from the Chicago O'Hare airport.

The country on the Fox River was purchased in 1841 by William Dennison Cary, 1856 connected with a railway station on the Illinois & Wisconsin Railroad. 1893 was the city's founding held in the name of their former owner.

During 1993 in the near Woodstock the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray Groundhog was filmed, also found some interior shots take place in a refitted as a board warehouse in Cary.
