Castiglione delle Stiviere
Castiglione delle Stiviere is a city south of Lake Garda in the province of Mantua in Italy. It has 22,583 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) and an area of 42 km ².
History
In the vicinity of the site the Battle of Castiglione took place on August 5, 1796. During the Italian campaign, Napoleon Bonaparte an attack by the Austrians under their commander Dagobert Sigmund von Wurmser was blocked. The terrorist organization group Ludwig committed suicide in 1984 in Castiglione their recent arson attack in which the alleged single group members were arrested.
The name Castiglione is widely used in Italy and comes from Castello ( castle ). In fact, there is a large fort in the city center. Another attraction is that opened in 1959 International Museum of the Red Cross, which has a very wide range of information.

The mayor is Fabrizio Paganella (since 2002, reelected 2007).
