Catharina Elmsäter-Svärd

Sabine Catharina Maria Laurine Elmsäter - Svärd ( born November 23, 1965 in Södertälje, Stockholm County ) is a Swedish politician of the Moderate samlingspartiet (Eng. The Moderates ).

Curriculum vitae

Catharina Elmsäter - Svärd attended from 1981 to 1984 the Västergårdsgymnasium and 1984-1987 the Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm. Between 1986 and 1987 she worked in the field of advertisements Södertäljekuriren. She then from 1987 to 1994, the hotel director of Stadshotellet in Södertälje.

Already 1984-1986 was Elmsäter - Svärd Ombudsman of Moderate skolungdom, an association within the Moderata samlingspartiet. Between 1994 and 1997, she was regional party leader of the moderates in Södertälje and in 1997 a Member of the Swedish Parliament. From 2003 to 2006 she was chairman of the Environment and Agriculture Committee of the Reichstag from 2006 to 2008 Chairperson of the Labour Market Board. In 2008 she was elected to the municipal council of Stockholm County and was responsible for the finances as well as Chairman of the Council and subsequently went back as Members of the Reichstag. On October 5, was appointed the new Minister of Infrastructure in his government Catharina Elmsäter - Svärd of Fredrik Reinfeldt. Between 29 March and 19 April 2012, she also served as interim defense minister after the resignation of Sten Tolgfors.

Elmsäter - Svärd is married, has two children and lives with her family in Enhörna, a town at Mälaren in Södertälje.
